Bit O' Honey
by Rosemary Hannon
Sweet, sweet Honey. You put up such a fight at the end. The vet wasn't sure if it was a kidney infection or kidney failure. The medicine and fluids we gave did help for about 2 weeks. But then I saw you going down again. That weekend was very hard and I am glad I was there for you. Sunday afternoon, on a towel on my lap, your head resting on my arm, you looked up at me. I rubbed your favorite place by your ears, told you to let go, not to fight it any longer. The other side was better--no pain, all warm sunshine and you would be whole and happy. Then you were gone, peacefully and quietly. I miss you and look for you still. I love you.
