Blizzard
by Steve Iadanza
We brought Blizzard home in July of 1999. He was one of four pure white, long haired cats. He was beutiful and his light was very noticable. He somehow touched my heart and soul. He would come in the bedroom in the morning to greet me when I got up as the alarm went off. He would accompany me to the shower and closet. He would wait outside for me to finish my shower and then we would go to the living room together. He would come running when I came home from work when he was outside. At night he would sleep above my pillow and I suspect that once I was asleep he found his spot either on the steamer trunk or floor right next to the bed. He loved to be petted and would return the loving with kisses of his own. Just over a year after we brought him home he was killed by a careless driver. This person always drives to fast and doesn't caare for pets of anykind. The whole family is like that. This is also a so called "neighbor". I saw Blizzard on the morning of August 10, 2000. His head was crushed so it was immediate, but this light in my life was taken before his time and we all know that. He was with me for a year and it felt like an eternity. I miss this kitty very much and I know there will never be another like him. When my time comes I hope we are right and we will see our loving pets as they greet us when we pass over. Blizzard was one of God's special creatures and he was killed by man. Blizzard lives on in my thoughts and my heart and he will be there forever. His light is still here. The other pets we have are affected by his death just by observing their behavior. We all will greive for some time to come.
