Dogs lead us through our lives, they are our teachers. They teach us how to cry and love, survive and care. They each teach us one thing though, they teach us how to let go. Their time on earth, it finally comes to an end, our time without our special friend. When I saw her there, in its mouth, I didn't care, I didn't care how much I'd be punished, that other dog, it, would die. I knew it was her, somehow, an unspoken voice whispered it into my ear, that her time here, was over. I couldn't see any details, but that vioce rang in my ears "It's her, it's her" I yelled at it, the other dog, who just looked at me and growled. I screamed, I yelled but I couldn't leave Maggie there, tied, and helpless, I couldn't leave her side. I held her and we wept together, my dog, Maggie, is my best friend. She would comfort me when that day was here, I wept and wept and held her near. She understood, as if it had been her telling me who it was, the unspoken voice.
