Kylie Jo - My Athlete
by Dorene Lee
Here is a tribute to Kylie Jo, a 10-year-old, golden cocker spaniel, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on May 22, 1999. Kylie Jo, ten years was not enough time for us to hike all the trails in the Pourde Canyon or run all the running paths we could find. Cancer took you swiftly from our lives. We are lost without your sweet face. I will never forget how you loved to sit in the chair with me each night when I came home from work or sleep soundly next to me each night. I'll never forget how you would check up on your Papa in his workroom just to make sure he was ok and to get a scratch behind the ear or a belly rub before you let him get back to work. I'll never forget how you would carry a pig's ear around for a week before you would eat it, you would guard it fiercely, even when we told you that we didn't want the silly thing, you guarded it. I'll never forget how you would sit for hours on end when you had a squirrel in the tree. The poor squirrel would get awfully hungry but you never tired of waiting for them to come down so you could catch them. I'll never forget how you let your sister, Shadow, beat you up all the time, even when you knew and we knew that you could have whipped her butt if you wanted to. Kylie, most of all I'll never forget how much you loved to run and hike, exploring everything in your path. Rest now, my sweet girl. Mama, Papa and Shadow miss you fiercely and I promise we will see you again one day when we cross the Rainbow Bridge. I'll be loving you always, Your Mama
