"Patches"
She became one of my rescues from the moment her mother left her. I watched her grow and I went to her "home" and fed her everyday. When she finally trusted me enough, she was almost six months
and she let me help her deliver her kittens, which none of them survived. She let me take her babies away and put them in a peaceful place. When she was eight months old she let me pick her up and hold
her. It was at that moment that she drove away with me to the vet first, to be spayed and vaccinated and then to her new home. She was reluctant at first because I had a neutered male kitty, named "
Dexter Wendell" who was two at the time and of course I can't forget my calico, Precious Girl. she was thirteen and both came to their new home in the same way. Patches, she got use to all of us real
soon. And from that day we were all just one big happy family, me, my husband, my daughter and son, my little weenie dog and my three kitty children.
On January 15, 2001, it all changed. I noticed that Patches was sad and that she didn't want to play with Dexter, her best friend in the whole world. I called the vet and he came to our house and checked her over and did a blood test. We found out that she had cancer. On January 26, 2001, the vet came again to see how she was. It was on that day she told us good-bye and the look in her eyes said "thank you for saving me and loving me."
So, in her memory, I say to "Pitter Patch", thank you for saving me and loving me back.
She is resting under her favorite tree down my the lake where our life began together.
