Goodbye Pumpkin
by Brian Morgan
My wife and I adopted our cat Pumpkin, an Orange short-haired male from the local animal shelter over a year ago. From day one, he was my buddy, and my friend. Since my wife and I have no children yet, he was my son, or my "boy". Today, October 10, 2002, I lost my boy. After a short and unexpected battle with a blocked urinary tract, he died due to the after affects of the blockage. I never expected to lose him like this and it hurts me to even think about it. I have lost many animals over my life and I remembered when I was 15, our family dog passed away. My Mom found a poem in the newspaper called the rainbow bridge and gave it to me. I cried when I read it, but over time, I realized that the poem helped me more than anything. Now, years later, I remembered that poem, and thats how I found my way here today. So now I know, that one day, I'll see my boy again.
