MY CAT
I sit here staring at my cat,
At his eyes of clearest yellow.
He is a tabby, sleek and fat,
He is a very proud fellow!
We found him in the doghouse one day,
We reached in and pulled him out.
He struggled and spit and hissed away,
He thought he carried such clout!
We brought him in and gave him our care.
He changed, he grew, he thrived.
He soon took over everywhere,
We were so glad that he lived!
He won our hearts with his winning ways,
He is a marvelous cat!
He fills my hours and my days,
There is no doubt about that!
His stripes, like his eyes, are gorgeous yellow,
I love my sweet 'Thomas' cat.
My "Tiger" is such a charming fellow,
He's a true aristocrat.
He treats the dogs with such disdain,
For they'll never be good as he!
He tries to ignore them again and again,
But they tease him unceasingly!
When he is playful, he's such a sight!
He runs and chases and plays.
He has four paws with socks of white,
And white draws a smirk on his face.
"Tiger" we call him for that is his name,
'Cause that's what he wanted to be.
But if it's alright, if it's all just the same,
He's simply a pussy cat to me.
He gets so close when I need him to,
He leaves me alone when I don't.
His love is there and always true,
I'll ne'er be without him, I won't!
He seems to know when I am down,
He loves it when I am happy.
Sometimes he acts just like a clown,
And at times, he can be quite crabby.
He's really quite loving and ever so sweet,
He's such a joy to me.
In every way, he's such a treat,
'Cause we love each other, you see.

I lost my "Tiger," at the age of 17, in 1995. I'll never forget my fine, loving 'gentleman!' I miss him!
