A Prayer for Brandy
God sent me a four-legged angel
Years ago when my life was carefree
At the time I just loved her pure sweetness
Through the years she’d mean much more to me
As life went through its troubles and sorrows
She stood by me each step of the way
Her comfort was total and selfless
And with her I lived day by day
As time passed her love never faltered
She forgave every mood, every slight
Through the good and the bad, she still loved me
And she led me from darkness to light
“Bright Eyes” I called her each morning
She grew older too soon, much too fast
I knew that her love I had cherished
Would become only dreams of the past
When the time came to give her to heaven
I knew then what a gift she had been
I thank God every day for His present
And pray I’ll be with her again
