Ricky found the Rainbow Bridge...
by Colette R.
My dearest Ricky, I've been going through the hardest time of my life without you here. You were always at my feet, no matter where I was in the house. It's strange sitting here at the computer without you...knowing that this is where you had your stoke. Sometimes I look down and think I see you, and I'm still in the habit of trying to rest my feet on you! You touched my heart, Ricky. We did so much together! I remember your obedience classes with SweetieKay and Tara and the obedience trials we did together. You made me so proud by winning our first ribbon! And, remember the time you did the 'down' in the ring next to the rottweiler? The two of you decided to kiss...and another dog didn't like it and jumped the Rottweiler...soon, pandemoniem broke out in the ring and the judge dismissed everyone! How I laugh when I remember that. I also remember the time you dug up the nest of baby bunnies in the back yard and I had to bottle feed them. And, the time we were way out in the field and you found a nest of baby rats and I almost bottle fed them too, until I found out what they were! But mostly I remember how faithful and uncomplaining you were. Wherever I went, you went. You were just always there, and I thank you for being my friend and companion for so many years. And, yes, for putting up with me! You loved all the other dogs too...and cats. There wasn't a creature you didn't love. I miss you, my friend. Dad and the other dogs miss you too. Fiesta hid in his bed for days after you left us. He loved to pull on your little stub of a tail! Xavie puts his head in my lap when I cry, and Apollo is laying in all your favorite places...but that's okay. I know you have a better place to lay now. Oh, Ricky...you will be in my heart forever. Go, have fun frolicking at the Rainbow Bridge. Until we meet again, my Rick-Rick. With Love, Mom
