My precious Boomer
by Dawn Sagstetter
Boomer was our very special cocker spaniel and he had a sister Mattie who is 3. We moved into a new house two years ago and Boomer liked the big yard to play in and investigate things however we have a neighbor who has a husk/wolf breed dog and he didn't like Boomer he attacked him one night and ripped Boomers head open and he had 10 staples put in his head. I was just devistated because they said they may have to put him down. He was attacked in his own yard on his leash going for a walk. He survived that attack and then in October of 2000 he was attacked by the same dog again in his yard. But he seemed to be ok. Then three weeks later he started not walking much and not eating and drinking so we took him to the vet and they ran tests on him and he was getting dehydrated so they kept him overnight which was very hard. The next day I went and picked him up and he wasn't good but it was Halloween and his birthday and I wanted him home with us for his birthday but he was getting worse I had to carry him outside and in and I sat for many hours with him outside because he would just lay there but I held him many times in my arms and told him that it was ok that we would be ok. He then got really bad that Saturday so we took him back to the vet and we saw a different vet at the hospital and she ran x-rays and he had blockage to his stomach it was a large mass. Boomer had cancer and he died the next morning at home with his mom, dad, and sister. I held him in my arms. We miss him so much I seem to cry alot he was my first baby and now he is gone. But I now have to think of his sister but knowone will every take the place of my precious Boomer. (Fireball the Terrorizer) his registered name. We miss you Boomer.
