SAVE THEM IF YOU CAN
I tried my best to save her
others will confess.
For the short time we had together
I gave her my very best.
But you see the ending of the storie
had been written with out much hope.
But to know she would die at the hands of that horse traider
was more than we could cope.
Although it was much too high
for her sake we paid the price.
Even though with that much money we could have bought something
really, really, nice.
You couldn't teill the color of her coat
O dear Lord she was so thin.
But as she back our of the trail at home
she looked so happy we all had to grin.
It only took one day to decide
we had well spent that much money.
For so sweet was she quickly she became
our beloved knowen as "Honey".
But timeing can be crule
as we have all learn in life.
I came home one day to find
Honey was ready to give up her fight.
Going in the stall, kneeling down
tears flowed from my eyes.
But Honey looked up and said
"Dear sweet master please don't cry.
For don't you know my first eighteen months of life
I thought I was living in hell.
But this last month I have spent with you
all has been good and well.
You gave me lots of love
you made sure I was well fed.
You gave me a place I could call home
a place to lay my weary head.
But now I must go
for my creator way up high
says it's time for me to run
to that pasture in the sky.
But do not feel bad my dear master
for you done way "HE" wanted you to do.
You showed humans can be good
and not all are mean and crule."
Now she lays in our pasture
with blue bonnets and sandstone marking her grave.
I'll never regreat one moment with
that dear filly I tried to save.
