OF HAPPY TIMES
by Barry N Watson
(In loving memory of KitKit Watson, May 15, 1986 to September 15, 1999. Birthed in the closet by Mom, KittyCat, one of four siblings - excitement was that! Grew up so perfect, as sweet as can be - such a wee darling I kept you with me. Came when I called you. Bright! - just like the sun. Always so eager youd run just for fun. Stretch up on my leg and say, "hi its me" -your sweet feline face a joy just to see. Play-fight with Squeely and lick-fest with Smudge. They were your best friends -youd never a grudge. Loved to fight bic pens -retrieve paper balls -swat them and bat them all down through the halls. Outgoing KitKit, you beautiful cat -exchange was exquisite - gave licks for each pat. Showed such sweet nature in so many ways. Lifted my spirits and brightened my days. Hissed at all strangers to frighten them off -next thing go chasing right after a moth. Then hear the trash truck make too loud a noise, but watch it closely -not losing your poise. Looking so regal on your favorite mat, just like your Mother, the sweet KittyCat. Very unselfish, an ethical dream. Loved to eat green peas and lap up real cream. Youd let me brush you and fight with the comb -just so contented that youd never roam. Sometimes wed go out and ride in the car. Youd rather stay home and not venture far. When Id vacation you would act blue -until I came back and gave pats to you. One time you got sick, as sick as can be -saved by a doctor and fast work by me. Trusted me wholly all through your long days. Showed me you loved me in so many ways. As you grew older you slowed just a tad -grew even sweeter to me - your ol Dad. Then it was over, your body grew tired. You couldnt go on, as hard as you tried. I wept and I wept as hard as could be. Miss you! I miss you -and know you miss me. But we made a promise that wed meet agin. Ill think 'to' you often and Ill see you then.
