Our Little Shadow
by Jo Worstell
OUR LITTLE SHADOW We love you Little Shadow Our baby you will always be, You have been such a joy to us A Blessing to your Dad and Me. You always were so spunky And full of life it seems, But now your little body Has been filled with a disease. Your little legs are useless Since that stroke has took its toll, You drag your little body As you rock it to and fro. We give you pills each day To take the pain away, And pray to God to help you So you can stay another day. You cry at night for someone To help relieve your pain, Oh God I only wish that We could make you young again. We've always been there for you And for 12 years We've made you well, But now the Doctor tells us That only time will tell. We know there is a heaven Where all good doggies go, And when you get there Shadow You will really steal the show. You will be all well and spunky Just as your life has always been, And run and play with other dogs And show them you can win. So as the time draws near And your little life runs out, Remember that we love you And there has never been a doubt. Your little eyes have failed you And your little ears no longer hear, Your little legs are paralyzed As your final day draws near. We dread to see the day When we have to say good bye, Because you always were The apple of our eye. We pray for strength to help you When your pain gets too severe, And ask for your forgiveness When that final day is here.
