Just Sleeping
I thought you were just sleeping
But I guess deep down, I knew.
I hoped you'd wake and run to me
The way you used to do.
Did you try to get my attention,
Tell me it was your time to go?
Did you scratch the door and cry to me
To try and let me know?
I had no idea you would leave me, too
So soon after Julius had gone.
The way you and Prince ran and played all day
In my mind, you were still very young.
I saw you lying there so still
With Prince close by your side.
I thought you were just sleeping.
We never said goodbye...
