Koko
by Tom Zito
Koko came into our lives one day She looked all around & decided to stay She looked through the house, through every room She made her decision, Her Love then did bloom She'd only been with us a few months or so When she gave us a gift, I'm sure you all know A litter of kittens, five bundles of fur 2 gray ones, 2 brown ones, & 1 just like her Two of them stayed, & stuck close to Mom She fed them & bathed them & kept them from harm Now they're older & wiser but sad just the same Because Koko has left us, and no one's to blame It happened so quickly, no warning at all Her body had quit her, but she wouldn't just fall She fought all she could, not wanting to leave But God had decided, and so now we grieve We miss you sweet Koko, it's just not the same It hurts us so deeply, it causes such pain But we know that you're fine, that you've gone on above And we feel your presence, we feel your love She'll always be with us, She'll always be near She'll stay in our hearts, yet we'll always shed tears She touched our lives deeply, this sweet ball of fur So deep that sometimes I can still hear her purr We thank the Good Lord, for the time that we had To share with this creature that made us so glad She's gone now, but yet, she will always be here Her Love still surrounds us, we've nothing to fear.
