Brownie's Lament On Losing His Friend, Morris
your family took me in one day, a lonely dog,no home, a stray.
you opened up your hearts to me, I found a place I loved, to be.
you and I became best friends, we forged a bond that never ends.
we'd look each other in the eye, then with a nod off we would fly!
we covered many miles, on our daily rounds-
as we explored the fields and woods and they became our grounds.
we flew around the neighborhood, carving paths all through the woods.
our hunts became the stuff of lore-but then one day they were no more.
you left, you see, without a sound.we started looking all around.
we found you after four long days, underneath the pines.
it looked as if you'd gone to sleep, there within the woods so deep.
every now and every then the wind sends me your scent, again.
I lift my head and sniff the air-but you are neither here or there.
as time goes by I've come to see,my life will go on sololy.
as every day draws to it's end, I look up to the sky, my friend.
I've found a brand new star to view-I named it MORRIS- after you.
