I come with news.. My horse passed last week at the age of 37. I owned him since he was 7 years old. It was quite a relationship and he was my first horse. He will always own my heart and soul and will never be forgotten. I cannot say I am really sad he passed only sad that I will miss him. His last few years were rough. It had gotten to the point we were having to pick him up every few weeks with a hoist when he would lay down and could'nt get up. He still ate but arthritis was bad. All of this is beside the point. What I am here for is to witness. I have such a heavy burden on my heart to share this with as many horse lovers as I possibly can. I don't know if you have heard of the rainbow bridge or believe in it. But I am here to tell you that it does truely exist!!! This was the second time I was given a sign or miracle that it does. My old horse Thunder use to pick his feet up and down when he ate. I thought he had teeth problems so I called the vet out. After a through inspection I was told nope nothing wrong just an odd habit hes picked up. Twenty something years later I was given the gift of a paint baby from one of my mares that I had tried countless times to breed to a quarter stallion with no sucess. Just as I had given up she took by a paint stallion of a friend of mine. About a week after the little paint colt was born my old horse (who by the way was a paint) had a stroke but pulled through it. My mother told me this paint baby was God's gift to take the place of my old guy when he left me. Therefore I named the baby Dancing Thunders Protege. My old horse being named Thunder and my mare Dancer. The protege came from a gift that is to be guided and taken care of. Anyway I have a picture of my old guy and the paint colt about age 3 on my wall with the caption "Following in your Footsteps". Well my old guy passed Wednesday and I prayed and prayed for a sign some comfort that my old horse made it to the rainbow bridge and was alright. I had all but given up in hope and faith when Saturday morning as my husband was feeding my young paint horse "protege" started picking his feet up and down as he ate!!! I was speechless, in awe, at peace all in one split second. Protege had never done this and has never done it again. I know there is a heaven for horses and I know just as sure as I know my name my Thunder is there waiting.
