Memories of Poohbearski "Bear"

POOHBEARSKI OF KILBOURNE 4-29-96 - 4-21-11 . Everyone that we met wanted to know what breed you were; we called you our "designer dog" 1/2 Golden, the other half Black lab, Chow and Husky. When Lani saw you coming from under the farm house and picked you from the 17 other puppies running around I knew you were a very special girl.

Bear you protected and traveled with John & Dotty and loved them with all your heart and soul.. Our memories of you in the car ready for a "road trip" will be forever in our minds. You were with Ginger on Duck Island when we all fell asleep while Hurricane Floyd roared past. You traveled from South Carolina to Baltimore and stayed with Jenn and Chris for a few months. Remember when Chris tied you to Chester (Chesapeake Retriever) and then had Chester chase balls! You didn't like that much; you got back at him by eating all his postage stamps! Yes, you loved eating paper, and tissues. No trash can was safe! Then Dotty and you took the longest drive to get home. You visited friends on sailboats, looked for aliens in New Mexico, and then you saw the Grand Canyon where you both just sat by the rim and looked out for hours. Finally we found John & Chipper in California. It was so good to be home. Though Chipper had different thoughts!

We added Sir Joshua to our family one day. He was such a different dog, being a King Charles Cavalier, but you taught him everything you knew about our family. You both played on the beach in Carmel, The Presidio, & Fort Funston. It was so much fun "reading the newspaper" while on the walks to Mia Circle. Some sniffs just deserved special attention. Rolling on your back and scratching that itch was also one of your favorite pastimes on a walk. Our travels weren't over yet. One day we all got in the cars, said goodbye to California, and drove for 2 days to Round Rock Texas. You and Joshua were so tired.

In Texas you enjoyed taking long walks with Dotty and Joshua. We would go to Old Settler's Park and RUN all around the lake. You also met your friends April, Janis and Ken. They would watch you and Joshua when Dotty and John weren't around. You loved going over to their home to see if April had eaten all of her food.

Sweetie, you were hurting towards the end. We all knew you had a big heart, but when Dr. Peck showed us the x-rays, we knew it was just too big. You have been our trusted friend for so long. We will miss you so much.

Love, John, Dotty, and Sir Joshua

It's been a year and it's like you haven't left. We have a new puppy, Maggie May, who has taken your old habits of eating paper, getting into anything she can get into. We miss you when we walk or go to the park and we think how you would enjoy this day. You'll always be in our hearts! 4-12
