Julie,
I just read all the excerpts and saw all the photo's of precious Allie.
I am so very sorry that you cannot physically hug her anymore. What a beauty! Death ends a life, not a relationship.
I had a similar experience, from getting my boy Zaki from the shelter, to enjoying a special relationship with him for 16 years.
I am so glad for you and your family, and Allie that she left on HER terms,in Her home, when SHE wanted to. I did not have that opportunity to leave it up to Zaki, and I am devastated.
You have such wonderful memories, as do I. I hope and pray they are both safe and pain free, playing and happy. Head butting, and purring. No more fear, vet trips medications etc. Just fun for them.
Sometimes a relationship is so special, bonds will never be broken by anything. Especially separation. You are lucky in the sense you had that relationship with Allie. I guess "shelter" kitties are so grateful that they are chosen, they love unconditionally!
