Thank you for recounting stories of Topper's life. He sounds like he is great fur child. I don't like using the past tense for our fur children as I believe they are still alive in the spiritual world. Sounds like you two were meant for each other.

There are no words to express the loss of a loving dog like Topper. He wasn't just a good dog he was a GREAT Dog. His memory will forever leave a hole in your heart, that you can only fill with the love he taught you to share. I will always be thankful for all the things he taught my Brother.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss of Topper. Please find comfort in knowing that Topper is now at Rainbows Bridge and making lots of friends. Saying goodbye is never easy. I also lost my precious cat Spooky July 30th 2001 after 16 wonderful years with her. I am sure that Topper and Spooky have become good friends. You can visit with Spooky at: http://www.rainbowsbridge.com/residents/Spook002/resident.HTM Take Care, Susan

Thanks Peter for calling and telling me about "Topper", it was sad news but I felt so much joy knowing he had such a happy life with you. My husband bought Topper as a Christmas present for me in 1993, and he was such a good little boy, but I had little children and some hard things going on in my life that kept me from giving him the attention he deserved. My children loved him but when we faced a transfer to California I decided that I would try to find a home before we left with someone who could spend more time with him. My children were small and very sad to leave him with you, but when we came to visit him before we left Texas we all knew we had made the right decision for him. You taught him so much, and he loved you and you loved him. You two were the perfect match and I thank you for giving him such a loving home. In my religion we believe that pets will live after this life and that they will testify about how we cared or didn't care for them, hope that comforts you.

Oh Topper how you have been missed. I found out about your loss while on the Tennessee River and I must say it was a difficult afternoon trying to read your loving thoughts of your loss. I shed my tears in the Tennessee River for Topper. I remember when you would bring him over for happy hour, Thanksgiving, Christmas or when you were leaving town and we keep him for you. I remember the beautiful flowers that I received from Topper when I won the Athena Award. They were so special to me - a secret admirer (which drove me crazy trying to figure out who sent them). I must say I did bribe the florist in to releasing the name. Dogs grab ahold of your heart and love you unconditionally. And as you said - they teach you to love 24/7. They teach you to forgive at the drop of a hat. They teach you to always put others first. they teach you to forget the bad times. And, most of all they teach you to always be happy. Thank you for sharing this beautiful rememberance of Topper.

Topper's a beautiful dog, an Angel. I lost my Toffee in May suddenley, I think they had a lot in common. She too always wanted to do the right thing, and brought great joy to everyone who met her. I feel hearbroken and lost. And in a way I don't want to get over her. We are blessed to have experienced such love. I wish you well. Stevie

I'm truly sad to hear that Topper has passed on. He was always so sweet and gentle. I'm honored to be one of many who had the privilege to have known him.
