Nancy: Your furry children have made it possible for you to survive your illnesses for so many years. We all need to love and be loved. They are not judgmental, never say "no" and give unconditional love. You, too, gave them unconditional love and did everything possible so that they lived a happy life. No regrets. You did as much for Willie as it humanly possible. When my Joanie died cousin Bennie said, "Just think how lucky you were to have her for over 63 years." I say to you now. Just think how lucky you were to have Willie for 6 years. We never "get over" the loss of those who leave us too early---we just learn to live with the loss.
