Welcome to Abbey's Rainbow Bridge Memorial Residency
Memories of Abbey
I wrote this poem for Abbey the day she came home to us. My grandson and I had met her earlier when she was only several weeks old. We brought her home when she was turning 7 weeks. Little did I know that dreaded cancer would strike and she would be gone only 3 years later. FOR THE LOVE OF ABBEY A tiny bundle of tawny colored fur I cradled you in one hand. Your eyes had barely opened. I could feel your little heart beating as I stroked the velvety soft spot behind your ears. At that moment you felt light as a feather in my hand and I knew you were the one. "I think I will call her Abby" I said to my young grandson. And so it began, our journey together in a lifetime of love until the 'Rainbow Bridge' beckons.
