Buddy, I met you first at my grandmas. You had a ribbon on you and you would hide under the chair. You slowly warmed up to us even though you came from an abusive household. You would even flinch when hands got near your face although we worked out alot of that but we weren't fully able to get that out and for that I am also sorry. Buddy was from a suspected abusive household who raised him outside and had a sister before meeting him. For a dog to go through so much then to open up to us, to Love us and let my family and I Love him, it truly speaks volumes to how massive Buddys heart was and how sweetness is naturally ingrained in him. He had no health issues throughout his life other than having to get all of his teeth pulled out towards the end stages of his life. When living in RSM, Buddy would always have his head in between the curtains standing on top of the couch waiting for me to get home from school. Buddy was the best cuddler as he would get in inbetween my chest and my arms or lay right on top of my pillow so that his body was touching my head. Buddy would always come check on me even when he was sleeping in my dads room no matter what. He would walk into my room. Stop after a few steps, look at me and if we made eye contact, he would come over to me and jump on my leg to be pet or if he wanted, to be held (I would know by putting both of my arms towards him and he would jump down if he didn't want to be lifted) Everytime I was downstairs, after hearing me cook he would come down and stop midway the stairs to see what I was doing and if I would offer him any food. When happy Buddy would either dig wherever or he would get on his back and go crazy by rubbing his back everywhere, he really enjoyed visiting his grandma and seeing his two friends Ruby and Rexy. Although he wouldn't participate in their play due to his personality, he still observed, got many pets and praise from family members, and was as comfortable as he could be. One of the ways I would play with Buddy is by pretending to reach for his food and as he would see my hand, he would try to playfully bite my hand and take his treat away. Buddy really liked to sleep on his chewbacca pillow pets bed and was quite the dreamer. One time I was at grandmas and realized I haven't seen or heard Buddy anywhere for a while, I went outside to see and saw him in the grass of the mail area which is a good 100 feet away. Once he heard me call him, he started sprinting back home and made it safely. His enemies are possums (he fought a possum at grandmas) , bikes, other big dogs and all dogs, and whoever passes by our gate at our current house. He ate a diet of wet food and special treats when possible. Buddy you were, is, and forever will be the best dog ever. You are my everything Buddy and you saved me. I still had so much planned for us. I wanted to give you a ride on the plane after I got my license, I wanted you to freely run around in the yard of our first house. We were supposed to find more quiet trails together, go to the beach, and go on a long trip together. All this is is just more time for us to prepare for when we meet again Buddy, you're never truly gone. I also thank my parents for showing immeasurable Love to Buddy without effort and for all of the help for which without it, all of this would have been impossible. I Love you guys more than you guys will ever know Thank you Buddy for being in our lives, making an wonderful unforgettable impact, and for allowing us to take care of you. We will see you again. "How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard" "It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are." |
