You gave so much love over the years we had you. There are so many things you did over your "nine lives". You were a constant presence (and conscience) in this house over the years, and kept us all compassionate, loving, and sane. You were proof that a "little cat" can carry all the weight of a bigger cat, become a larger than life presence in my heart...and now, unfortunately, only in my memory. I will always treasure our hugs, your playfulness, your seeking for the perfect lap, your underappreciated ability as a hunter of small mice and birds, and teaching me how to relax. Indeed, it's OK. I know you are at peace now, and I am only sorry if I didn't do enough for you. I remember the time you got stuck in the sewer and we had to call Animal Control to get you out with a butterfly net! I'll also remember the blessing of the animals, and all the adventures around the yard, and you'll also remember Jerry the bird, who only lived a few months, but who fascinated you. But mainly, I know you always loved being petted, stroked, and soaking up all the affection you could. |
