Cosmo brought 17 years and 7 months of loyalty, faithfulness and unconditional love. Along with his littermate Watson, Cosmo brought unending happiness... and occasional mischief, especially during his puppyhood. Having to replace flooring in two different apartments was well worth Cosmo's lasting trust and companionship. He always followed people from room to room, wide-eyed, alert and curious. Even at age 10, Cosmo and Watson chased each other and played as if they were still puppies. Cosmo aged gracefully, training to use doggie steps and ramps as his golden years approached... easing his adaptation to arthritis. In 2010, Pinny the italian greyhound puppy joined the pack. Cosmo mentored Pinny while consoling everyone during Watson's decline. During Watson's final days, Cosmo watched over him like a sentry. Once Watson moved on to the bridge, Cosmo took on the Alpha role. In 2013 he started canine rehab therapy and went almost every week for exercises, massage, acupuncture and laser treatments, all of which aided his mobility during his final year. Although Cosmo's alertness slowly faded, his graceful and curious nature masked his true demise until Pinny and I realized ... and were instructed by the vet and rehab therapist... that it was time. He had one last hamburger before reuniting with his littermate at the Rainbow Bridge. From playful puppy to dignified dog.... Cosmo, you are my blessing. You are the center of my world, my cares, my concerns, my worries; you mean more to me than you will ever know. Until I see you and Watson at the Rainbow Bridge.... |
