I still remember the day you came into our lives. You were found by my sisters friend, abandoned in a box in a neighborhood park. The friend brought you over and despite being scared, you explored the backyard. Bella the chihuahua and Riley the beagle greeted you and showed you around. We could tell that you had a rough time before we met you, as you were very skittish and fearful of the world around you. So much so, that it took many years for you to be comfortable in your new home. My sisters friend was unable to keep you, so my mom had offered to take care of her while we tried to find a home for you. It became evident that you were a part of the family, and despite having 2 other dogs we decided to adopt you. We showed you a lot of love and affection to help mend the deep wounds of your past. You spent a lot of time cuddled up with my sister hiding out as well as your favorite spot - under my mom's bed. You were a little intimidated by the men in the household - we suspected this had to do with your past. Eventually, through a lot of patience, we eventually started to bond and you began trusting me. I still recall laying on the floor while you hid under the bed. I would hand feed you treats when you were too afraid to leave from the comfort of being underneath the bed. As you got more comfortable, you would join both Riley and Bella during our nightly walks. I also started to see you at my feed during dinner hoping for a taste of moms home cooking. You also started to bond with your brother and sister, Riley and Bella and became inseparable. You were really starting to come into your own, becoming less frightened with every passing day. We began taking you with us on car rides. I remember one incident where you came with us for a day Trip to the beach. You seemed to have a great time, until we got back to the car to go back. You became spooked by a passing car and got loose. You ran into a bushy area near the parking lot without a trace. We spend hours calling for you and searching for you but you were too scared to come to us. We had to leave since it was getting dark, but were determined to come back the next day and find you. The next day, we came back out and attracted the attention of the neighbors. They too were also concerned about you and offered any help they could. We even had the local firefighters come out to try to locate you with an infrared camera. You were even able to elude them. We created lost posters and put them up all over town. Eventually, after 10 days of you being in the elements, we got a call from a neighbor who had seen you in the morning. We went to the deli and bought some fried chicken, hoping to draw you out. Since we knew calling/chasing you would not work. We decided to take a seat in the area where you were last seen. Once we took the chicken out, you appeared almost instantly eagerly eating from our hands. We had finally gotten our sweet Daisy back at last. You loved chicken! You were always a sweet dog to us and your brother and sister. We showered you with affection and treats to make sure you knew how much we loved you. You also endured several moves as well. You ended up in another state with my sister for a while. You even played in the snow while living there! Eventually, you moved back with my mom after a few months. You started becoming much more comfortable around people. When I would come over and take you on a walk, you would run over excitedly and be the first dog out the door! You had a look of such joy on your face as you frolicked around the neighborhood with your brother and sister. A few weeks ago, mom called me and told me that she had to rush you in to the vet. You were having trouble breathing and the vet put you on heart meds. We were glad you were doing better, or at least thought so. You were so strong and didn't want us to know you were sick. On Friday, you were having trouble breathing and tried your best to hide it from mom. She knew you weren't doing well and rushed you into the vet. It was your heart again, and unfortunately you were in a very dire state, and were put on oxygen. Your suffering was so bad, that we had to make the tough decision for you leave us and join your sister at Rainbow Bridge. You crossed the rainbow bridge on 03/06/20 peacefully surrounded by your loved ones. We know you are with your sister Bella now, free of any pain or suffering. We know you didn't want to leave us, but please know we realize you hung on as long as you could. We know you and Bella are looking down on us as our special little angels, patiently waiting until we meet again. You and Bella will make many friends at Rainbow Bridge to keep you company until then. Though our hearts are broken by the sudden loss of our sweet Daisy, we look back with happiness at all the great memories we shared together. You are in gods hands now and he knows what is best for you. You will live on in our hearts forever, as we do in yours. Until we meet again, Rest In Peace sweet Daisy "dew drop" Rosetti.
