The time had come for us to be apart. We fought long and hard trying to prevent it. You wanted to stay with me as much as I wanted to keep you near. Our hearts were joined by our daily routine. Well, at least, I called it a routine. I think you had gotten to the point where you could not actually remember day-to-day. Somehow they all became the same....circle after circle with lots of snacking in between. You struggled to stand and refused to walk, but gave love in your own way. Oh, how I wish we could play follow the leader one more time. You were the best listener!!! I know you can still hear me as you run and play with your brothers and friends. I do not want my memories to convey sadness. The truth is remembering our time together brings to mind happiness. Coming through the door and greeting you with scratches and hugs made the days better and brighter. I am not sure if you could see or hear me, but I am sure it made you happy as well. Going to end this hear, for now. I will visit often, as you come to mind and see you again, someday.
