We met at the Minneapolis Animal Control Shelter. I knew when you threw yourself at the front of your cage, and stuck your paws out at me that I had been chosen. The pain from losing your predecessor was still fresh, and I wasn't sure if I was ready to love again but you were there to choose me. You gave me seven brief years of joy and you were with me for many of our life changing transitions during your short lifespan. Although you were sick, I really thought you would survive this next transition in our lives. I am so sorry that you had to die so far away from the only home you had ever known. Life had dealt you a multitude of health problems, and yet you were always so affectionate and loving. But those struggles for you are over. It is my sincere hope that whatever happens beyond the physical state of being, that you have at last found a measure of peace. Thank you for choosing me, beautiful Jasper; I shall always remember you!
