Thirteen years went by too quickly. Josie was larger than life. Smart. Vibrant. Tough. Accepting. Curious. A typical Lab, she loved water and the outdoors. She loved to let her nose lead which it obviously told many tales to her, mostly all will remain a mystery to us. She was kind and patient with children and other animals. She was forever bonded to my daughter and they loved to share a bowl of microwave popcorn on occasion. She served as an emotional support animal to my son and as he grew into adulthood she became more of a constant companion to me. We raised her as a puppy in Dayton, NV but moved to places such as Helena MT where she chased deer on 20 acres of land, swam in the Missouri River, went for rides in the back of the Bronco to Bozeman and cuddled up in front of a warm fire on cold winter nights. Spring Creek Nevada was her final home on our property of 1.5 acres. Days were spent accompaning me in the utility vehicle, attending to ground squirrels, the occasional deer and long summer days filled with watering trees and plants. She was highly tuned to most things; weather, people's moods, a sad day, a good day. Josie was unwavering in her support of us all. Her body lost the tough battle from MCT cancer but even on her last day her spirit was strong, her courage was amazing. We take solace that she is no longer suffering yet our struggle remains. Once in awhile a dog comes along that touches your life and others in a way that is indescribable. I miss you Jo. I will never forget you. You are in my heart everyday. |
