I saw Juanita a few weeks before and now Judy called me and said Juanita was getting "nippy" because she has been stuck in a cage because nobody was adopting her. Juanita was a mother cat having a litter 5 months prior. I said bring her over and she can stay with me until we find a forever home. I always adopt the "less wanted" cats. Well Juanita quickly grew on us and became the newest member of the family. She slept next to me at night and was always just so appreciative to receive attention by her loud motor and her rubbing her face in yours. She started to get along with the other cats especially Phoebe, the "queen" of the house. She stopped eating and we knew there was something wrong. She had surgery but never recovered from it. I miss her so much already even though we only had her about six weeks. Although I hurt a lot right now, I find comfort in knowing she had a home in the final weeks of her life and was given the best health care. I firmly believe in rescuing and having as many cats as I can handle since there are so many that need homes. It has been one year but you still are in our thoughts all the time, I pulled 10 cats from animal conrol the other day and one little black cat looked just like you. I will still save as many as possible just like you and will never give up on rescue. Gone from me on earth but never forgotten. |
