Memories of Jake
Easter Saturday, 1996. A quiet butterball looks up with his big brown eyes and it was love at first sight. I remember picking you up and you nuzzled me right away. You had my heart right then. The next week we had your first snow storm. A foot and a half, but you jumped right in. I still remember you covered in snow. When you came in, I dried you up with a fluffy new towel. You enjoyed that a lot. You loved being toweled off in bad weather when coming in. Sometimes, I know you went out just to get wet so I would have to dry you off. These last nine years passed by so quickly, too quickly. Last year we found out you had cancer. Chemotherapy was the only option for us. You did extremely well, even your vet thought so. This past March, we found out you were coming out of remission. The new tumors confirmed that. Your internal organs were also affected. We decided to let nature takes its course. The vet gave you 2 weeks but you stayed on without complaint for 6. But as it goes, this past weekend you let us know it was time. You passed so peacefully and quietly at the vets office, just as I knew you would, you never complained about anything. We love you so much and miss you.
