KARLEY...a precious, defenseless, voiceless 6 month old puppy. She was taken from her mommy & daddy at the hands of another. Karleys parents, JEFFERY & SHELLEY TOOLE...I feel like they are part of my family. They are wonderful people & their hearts are hurting. Karleys life was taken by a 2 legged animal. An abuser. This person doesn't deserve to be classified as a human. This person CAN'T possibly have a heart. This person CAN'T possibly have a soul. If he did, there's NO way he could have done what he did to this poor fur baby. Here's Karleys story. Karley was 6 months old. Since I didn't have a date for her birth, I gave her the date for MOTHER'S DAY. She is a German Shepard mix. Look at her face...look at those beautiful eyes...look at those cute ears...look at that fur that looks so soft. On Monday, Nov. 3rd., Karley got out of her yard..(there's speculation that the suspect opened her gate). A neighbor, Travis Staggs, found her & was walking her back to her home when the suspect approached. The suspect told Travis that HE would return Karley to her home. It was at this time that the suspect, who is with the Los Angeles County Fire Dept as an Assistant Fire Chief, started hitting Karley with a rock. Then he got on top of Karley & started beating her with CLOSED fists. And then, if this wasn't ENOUGH abuse, he attempted to break the pups jaws. When Travis saw what was taking place, he ran down his driveway & up the suspects driveway & tried to pull the suspect off of this poor pup. At that time, the suspect had his hands in Karleys mouth, trying to break her jaws. When Travis was trying to get the suspect off of the pup, the pup was able to stumble away from her attacker & fall into a bush. This poor baby, after getting beat so badly, STILL had the will to live. Karleys will though was NOT enough. Karley was rushed to her vet. Once she was examined, her vet broke the news to her owners...she needed to be released of her pain. She needed to take her journey to the bridge because of her injuries. Karley suffered a broken jaw, crushed skull, brain damage & a crushed ear canal. She suffered other injuries that are too horrible to print. I know that when her spirit left her body, she was flown to the bridge on the back of CASPER & met by ALL of our ANGELS. She was NOT alone. And hopefully, she was NOT afraid. She was at PEACE. According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Dept., they received 2 police radio calls on Monday, Nov. 3rd...1 came from a woman saying that her husband had been ATTACKED by a canine. The other call was from a male stating his neighbor had beaten someones dog with a rock. The suspect CLAIMS SELF DEFENSE. He told authorities that this pup had bit him that's why he was beating her. This suspect is a large person. IF this pup had bit him, he could have stopped the bite WITHOUT beating her to within an inch of her life. This attack was NOT the first attack on a defenseless pup. According to the Toole's, the suspect shot their older dog in the eyes with a pellet gun which BLINDED their dog. He also shot another neighbors dog in the eye with a pellet gun. That neighbor was able to have the pellet removed without their dog being left without sight. And there are other reports of abuse towards humans. But for him to attack an innocent animal is UNACCEPTABLE. As of today, Tuesday, Nov. 11th., the suspect is in HIDING. To me, this is COWARDLY. If this was self defense as he claims, then WHY is he hiding? He's hiding because he knows he MURDERED this young puppy. He's hiding because he knows there are people out there who WANT & DESERVE anwers. He's hiding because he's a COWARD. He's hiding because he's an ABUSER. He's hiding because he knows there are people out there who would like to see him get the same beating that he gave Karley. Pending the outcome of the Riverside County Sheriff's investigation, the case MAY be referred to the Riverside County District Attorneys office. MAY be referred??? There's NO question about this...it SHOULD be turned over to them ASAP. According to the CALIFORNIA PENAL CODE, Section 597 makes it a FELONY for ANYONE to MALICIOUSLY & INTENTIONALLY MAIM, TORTURE OR WOUND A LIVING ANIMAL. According to the witness of this beating, ALL of that applies. A demonstration is planned for this coming Saturday, Nov. 15th. The owners, Fire Dept. personnel & the community will be in attendance. Karley deserves ALL of the outpouring of love that has come her way since this horrible story broke. I have asked Lelja to help me in getting a petition started to get this MONSTER off the streets of California. As long as he is walking free of any crime, he WILL do this again. NO & I repeat, NO animal is safe!! KARLEY...you are such a precious soul...with a heart so full of love...a heart that will no longer beat. You're with MAC, who can relate to your story. You're with Cole, Aker, Ursa, Mandy, Lady Wendy, Bucky, Nikki, Puck, Coco, Starr, Walker, Malibu & so many bridge kids. I know that Cole has taken you under his wings & will ALWAYS be there to comfort you. You are surrounded by loving ANGELS who will show you what LOVE is all about. They will shower you with so much love & touch you with gentle hands. Please DON'T be afraid. They say that when a young fur baby is taken from this earth, it's because a HUMAN baby has had to leave his/her parents & go to heaven...and that our young fur babies are needed to comfort the human babies. I know that you will do such a wonderful job with a baby. Your fur will keep that baby warm. Your kisses will calm him/her. You truly ARE an ANGEL. KARLEY...make sure you send your REAL mommie & daddy LOTS of signs so they will know that you ARE OK. They really NEED to feel your love. Look down from HEAVEN & send your mommie & daddy LOTS of smooches. They miss you terribly. Your mommie was talking on the news & she couldn't control her tears. They are heartbroken! As I write this, my heart is breaking. So many of us would give ANYTHING to have just ONE MORE DAY with our Bridge children. We all love our babies. I can imagine what Karley felt. She felt FEAR...PAIN...ALONE. I can ONLY imagine that Karley was wondering what she had done to this person to make him do this to her. Did she bark at him? Did she NOT want to let him pet her? Did she poop on his lawn? WHAT DID SHE DO TO DESERVE THIS BEATING? I can't imagine how anyone could EVER hit an animal...NO MATTER WHAT THEY DID. I gave Karley this residency because she DESERVES this. She deserves a FOREVER home at the bridge. She deserves to feel the love of the Bridge family. She needs to know that her death was NOT in vain. That we will do WHATEVER we have to do to get this monster off the street. WE LOVE YOU TO THE MOON & BACK KARLEY!!! Just this side of heaven is a place called RAINBOW BRIDGE. ALL the animals who had been ill & old are restored to health & vigor. Your mommie & daddy held a protest today in front of the Courthouse to get the DA's attention. I know you're so proud of them. Last night, they were on the John & Ken radio show & thanks to that appearance, your petition had over 1000 signatures in less than 24 hrs. Isn't that great? I PROMISE you sweet girl that WE WILL GET JUSICE. And if that DA doesn't do the RIGHT thing, I will then go after him by seeking a "RECALL" of him. WE LOVE YOU TO THE MOON & BACK!!! 12.16.2008...KARLEY...WE DID IT!!! Johnson was arrested & charged with FELONY ANIMAL CRUELTY. At 4pm California time, he was taken from his home in handcuffs!!! We know that this is only the FIRST hurdle but we jumped it & now we will be going to the next one. YOU kept us going pretty girl. Your mommie wrote to me the other night & she was saying that she didn't know how much more she could take. I told her that I would NOT let her stop. I know that you are dancing at the bridge with all of your friends. Just keep sending us the strength to keep going. I know you will. WE LOVE YOU TO THE MOON & BACK!!!...xoxoxo 12.22.2008...Well baby girl, today was a day of anger. Johnson held a news conference. They called your DANGEROUS & VICIOUS. Those words BROKE your mommie & daddy's hearts. What's important is that WE know you are NOT dangerous or vicious. They also said that you were NOT a puppy...they said you were an ADULT with ADULT TEETH. LIES...nothing but LIES. Johnson said that YOU got loose on HIS property & while he was escorting you home, YOU TURNED ON HIM & bit him severely on his hands, arms & legs. And that you then put a vice like grip on his hand & that's when he HAD to defend himself. He said that he has spent 31 yrs with the Fire Dept saving dogs from peril. AND his Attorney said that Johnson did NOT k*ll you. NO...he just BEAT YOU WITHIN AN INCH OF YOUR LIFE. He beat you so badly that you HAD to be put down. Karley...do me a favor. Every night that Johnson goes to sleep, I want you to MAKE him look at your precious face. He is an evil man. We will make sure that he gets what he deserves. Don't you worry. Many people met at Venice Beach...some with their beautiful fur babies & some without. We met there to CELEBRATE your LIFE & ask for justice to be served. I know you are so proud of your mommie & daddy. This is tough on them. Your mommie said that this past week was a tough one & she doesn't understand why. She said she has cried so much for you. Well, on March 3rd, you have a marker coming up. On that date, you will have been at the bridge for 4 months. She doesn't realize that those markers sneak up on us. And some we can deal with & others we just can't. I think this one is one that she can't deal with. For me, it was the first time that I met your mommie & daddy. They ARE wonderful, caring people. I will ALWAYS be there for them. We all do this because we ALL love our fur babies. And I know that you, Cole, Aker, Ursa, Mandy, Lady Wendy, Bucky, those beautiful danes, those puppies & all of the other bridge kids...you are the ones that keep us going. Just when we think we can't do it anymore, I feel your presence. I feel Cole all around me...he's telling me to keep going...keep pushing...he sent me to the rainbow bridge site for a reason. It was a beautiful day at Huntington Beach. A little on the windy side though. A lot of people came out to show their love for you Karley. And to show your mommie & daddy support. When we released the balloons, I know you reached out & grabbed the one that your mommie let go. And I know you are holding onto that balloon. It broke my heart to see all of those balloons heading towards you. You are what keeps us going. The vet is holding a ruler at the top of Karley's head showing how much swelling was taking place inside her head. And it shows her eyes. This photo breaks my heart. This NEVER should have happened.
