Ladd was a one of a kind dog...who will always remain in my heart. He brought joy to my life, made me laugh, and warmed my heart! He was my 90 pound little buddy. My husband rescued him from a home where he was destined to die. He thought my husband was better than sliced bread..... and even though Ladd LOVED bread.....he loved Benny more! Ladd also loved to travel and was always a compliant guest at any hotel where we stayed. I would get the suitcase out and he would start barking! We traveled to Georgia every weekend before Benny was deployed to Iraq and Ladd would start barking and whining as soon as we got on post and he would see all the soldiers in uniforms. He knew his "daddy" was one of those. I have so may wonderful memories of Ladd. When he became sick and it got to the point where I knew he wasn't going to get better...the decision to have him put to sleep was one of the hardest things I had to do. His "daddy" was with him as he crossed over to Rainbow's Bridge, and I know that he is well now and waiting for me there. I miss him so much and think about him everyday. We had him cremated and his ashes are in a beautiful wooden box with his picture on the front. It sits in my bedroom where I can see him each night before I go to bed and each morning when I wake up. I feel very privileged to have been his "mommy"! |
