"When tomorrow starts without me, And I'm not there to see, If the sun should rise and find your eyes All filled with tears for me; I wish so much you wouldn't cry The way you did today, While thinking of the many things, We didn't get to say. I know how much you love me, But when tomorrow starts without me, I thought of all the yesterdays, So when tomorrow starts without me,
When Amanda arrived at the sanctuary with her mom, Vera, they was told that there were no orange cats available for adoption; but that they did have one who wasn't ready to go home in the back room. The orange boy, Cupid, was separated since he did not behave with the other cats there. Amanda asked to see him and it was love at first sight! He immediately warmed up to Amanda with headbutts and kisses. Both Amanda and Cupid needed to be rescued, and when she took him home, she gave him a new life and a new name too: Milo. The first night, Milo slept in the big green recliner chair, and woke Amanda up with sandpaper kisses on her eyelids. Milo was Amanda's first cat, so everything he did amazed her. For eight long years, Milo supported Amanda as an ESA, and taught her to be strong by showing her unconditional love through her lowest points in life. If you were to ask Amanda about Milo, or "Miley" as family called him, the first thing she'd tell you is that he saved her. Miley knew when she needed snuggles to soothe panic and anxiety, heal depression, and helped her sleep and process grief. Most importantly, Miley was Amanda's best friend. For the first half of his life, Miley had a brother, a Shih Tzu named Dante, who crossed the rainbow bridge in 2021. Miley is survived by his loving family, including his grandparents and many aunties, his dad or "Papa," Muhammad, and beloved little sister, Peanut-but to Miley, she was "Chicken." It took Milo and Chicken a while to bond but after about a year, the two became inseparable. Miley taught Chicken "how to cat"-how to knead bread on mommy's belly and make biscuits, how to mark her scent on the walls in the house, and how to find the best spots to soak in the sunlight. In July of 2022, Miley was diagnosed with severe, idiopathic IBD. Over the course of four months, Miley got really sick and needed a steroid to manage his IBD. He lost half his body weight and was always grumpy and uncomfortable. It became hard for him to enjoy playing with Chicken or his usual day-to-day activities. He had two awesome doctors, Dr. Stella of Oaklawn Animal Hospital in Cranston, RI, and Dr. Kessler of Ocean State Veterinary Specialists in East Greenwich, RI, who gave him the best care. During the last 8 months of his life, Miley was able to live steroid-free, with his IBD under control. He gained all his weight back and then some, and found his happiness again too. Miley and his family thank his doctors and the staff at OSVS and Oaklawn for the most memorable last chapter of Miley's life, filled with love, health, and happiness. Miley's family couldn't have gotten him healthy without their help. Miley loved to play with his sister, eat snacks, snug in his pink blankie on the bed with his mom, and sunbathe in his tower, on grandma's couch (when he lived there with his mom), and the kitchen counter at his home with mom and dad. Chicken was almost always by his side and misses him immensely. But Miley still teaches her "how to cat" from Heaven, and she's been trying her best to be there for her mom. Mom tells her she's doing a great job and knows Milo is showing her the way. Milo passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, April 19th, 2024. Dante was already there, waiting to help him cross the rainbow bridge. Milo's family will remember him for furever by his many nicknames-Miley, Millmouse, Millhouse, Millibenilli, Miley Cyrus, Papa, Papa Loaf, Papahead, Papaya, Milliehead, Miloaf, "Loaf man with the loaf hands doing the loaf dance," and Mommy's baby, to name a few. They will tell his story for years to come, and keep his memory alive in their hearts until they can be together again. Miley will be remembered for his coo's, big beautiful eyes, freckles, and long whiskers, the unconditional love he showed to his family, and the unwavering comfort and endless joy he brought to his mom, Amanda. |
