Memories of Nike
On 7/3/2015 at 3:30pm, Nike left us to begin his final journey to heaven. His health and body began failing him six months ago but his heart was so strong and his love for his Mom and Dad keep him going. Our final act of love was to take away Nikes pain forever, at his home, by our side, on his favorite bed, with the help of his doctor. Nike was our companion for nearly 14 years. Our house and lives seem so empty now without him.

Nike, you were a magnificent friend that was truly sent to us as a gift from heaven. You protected our family and were so loyal. Thank you for watching Momma while Dad was away so many times, deployed. Thank you for remembering Dad and loving him again when he came home, under foot for weeks and never missing a beat. Dad is sorry for your sadness when he was away but he always missed you and couldn't wait to come home.

We always loved walking you throughout our neighborhood, Mom especially loved showing you off at the park on Sundays. You were an amazing sight and adults and children alike would comment on your size and power. But as children would approach, you showed your love by raining kisses on their faces. You were a gentle giant. Mom and Dad are sad and miss you sooo much right now. We're happy that your running around again, taking care of business, and running the show. Remember to find Sheba, Ford, Legend, Casey, Nalu Boy, Kamu, and Hennessey. Try to find your brothers and sisters and tell them stories about us. Papa Joe, Mom, and Granny are there so watch over them, okay.

It's been said that Akita's are Angels from Heaven. You are our angel always and forever. We love you. Mom and Dad...

Hi Nike-Boy
It's September 4th, 2015; and although its been two months since you went to the Rainbow Bridge, it feels like an eternity that we've been without your company. It was your birthday on September 1st and Mom and I was so sad that we couldn't celebrate with you. You would have been 14 years old. Mom cries for you almost everyday and I'm sad too. I've been luck that you visited me in my dreams though. You came to me looking larger than life and healthy. You had another Akita with you... Maybe it was one of your siblings. You looked at me as if to asure me that your okay, then you walked off. Mom wants you to visit her in her dreams too, Okay. We can still feel you and smell you in the house. It's funny that Mom and I rush home everyday to see you but as we get close it hits us that you live at the bridge now. We miss you so much. Love you big boy. Mom and Dad.
