Memories of Paccina
Paccina was given to us as a puppy because the owner raised Akitas from Japan but somehow a Lab got in the pen and a pack of puppies were born with
both bloods intermixed to make a special dog. When we went to see the puppies she picked us. Ignored the others she came up holding out a paw as if to say "take me
home with you." We could not resist. She grew to look like a lab, but had a curly tale and double fur. The interesting thing is that though she loved us all, she somehow sensed the one she would have to win was Mama Carolyn who had never had a dog in her life. She then became Carolyn's dog and followed her everywhere in the fifteen years she lived. Paccina never had to be boarded as she loved going on trips. Especially the mountains and streams. We even took her to Florida several times when visiting Carolyn's husband's mom. She was also very protective. While the postman and meter man were smart enough to befriend dogs she would always bay a warning when garbage men came. She thought they were stealing something. She also liked sports and when our son was on a baseball sandlot team loved going to games and barking like a cheer leader. Another special thing was she got along with family cats who saw her as a protector. They even slept with her. We miss her but know we will see her again in Heaven and that just as she got along with all animals here, will have made friends with all our past pets and others.
