I will never forget the day I first saw you at the Humane Shelter. I wasn't there for another dog, only to check and see if an aquaintance's lost dog had been picked up. You sat shivering in the corner of the cage, filthy and skinny as a rail. You came in with a female Dal in an equally sorry state. We had three Dals at home...but how could I leave you there?! After the holding time, no one came to claim you. The female was adopted, so I knew I had to take you home. Despite your long list of health problems, you always managed to rebound and you spent a very long life here on earth gracing our lives...we think about 16 years. You were a big inspiration to my life because you were the first dog I rescued. Because of your immense love, we have gone on to rescue three more abused and abandoned Dals and work against animal abuse. Thank you for what you have given me. Please forgive your mommy if you still didn't think it was time to go, even though your body had failed you. Your mommy and the whole family loves you so much and we miss our big guy. Don't be afraid without mommy, our bond is love and we will be together forever, just like I promised you. Stay with Daisy, Dalila, Penny, Oliver, Alex and Moey and wait for mommy at the bridge. We will all be together and our love will light up the sky! Dearest Reggie, It has been one year since you have been gone. I miss you and love you. You'll always be my "Big". Love, Mommy My sweet "Big", Two years have passed and we still talk about how gentle you were. Run free big guy.
