Risi Bellew stormed into our lives almost 1 year after we lost our precious Chasey Dog...we had no idea what was coming our way!! Chasey was reserved, wise, laid back, and super sweet. Risi on the other hand was a stand up comedian disguised as a golden retriever. She was there to save our lives, whether we liked it or not. Her huge personality quickly permeated through our neighborhood, and a star was born. We did not bother disciplining her, knowing those shackles would limit her ability to express her feelings. She barked at everyone, and mean that as shouted. Her message was clear...you come over to me right now, and let me brighten your day!! These shouts would continue until the visit happened. She only needed a head tap or a belly rub and the shouts would stop.Somehow, this method worked at a near 100% success rate. And you guessed it, people loved her for it. These actions repeated day after day, until her life was suddenly cut short by an evil ruptured hemangiosarcoma that took residence on the very heart that enriched countless lives. She left our lives in the same fashion that she entered...like a ball of fire. It was quick, she did not suffer...and I am thankful for that. But somehow I can't shake the notion that this was a life cut short, with more people to touch. She was full of life and energy until that fateful moment...she was Risi The Great.
