Memories of Roxanne
8-30-2012: The day I met Roxanne, was when my dad made my sister and I go into our basement, and said he heard "rats" running around. So when we opened the closet door, there she was, the most beautiful and perfect dog, who we dubbed, Roxanne.

Growing up with rox, 15 years in the making, was just so endearing and heart felt. I was an avid video game player as a teen, and she would just come down and sit next to me for hours while I sat there in front of the tv, it was such great company.

My family and I also loved bringing her to the park and an open school ground, and just let her run and run around until she was tired, then we could finally catch her.

Roxanne wasn't much for hanging around other animals growing up, she was a homebody. We didn't mind, we loved her unconditionally. She was so spoiled, that my dad used to buy frozen steaks, just for her!! Toys, treats, she loved loved the Livasnaps treats, until it started giving her infections in her ears, then we switched her to milk bones, which she loved just as much.

The thing with Roxanne was just her soft, sweet manner. Never tried to hurt us, bite things, overall a non bother. She was our shadow, followed us from room to room. Especially my mom, when my mom said "ok bed time!", rox was following right behind.

Remember when I said she loved everyone? Well, yes, except veterinarians! Hated hated that place! A funny story involving my sister and rox is when we brought her to be groomed at the vet. No one was around but my sister, so she had to pick the doggie up. When my sister Danielle got there, rox was going crazy in the holding cage, barking jumping and going berserk cause she wanted to leave. When my sis said ok rox let's go, she tried nipping her and showed her teeth, making the workers question "umm miss this is your dog??" lol!

Rox also was a teacher to the young. We bought a dachshund puppy in or around the end of 2007. Barney we call him, loved his older sister. He would bark when she barked, he would pee when she peed. They would fight over bones, food etc, but then lay with each other at the end of the day. Barney loved Roxanne, never left her alone. They were the best of friends, and at most, companionship for one another... Adding on, we obtained another puppy in early 2012, a chiwahua named Brody. Roxanne was growing tired and old, as most old folks do, and didn't want much to do with Brody. Bt he, like Barney loved her so. He would chase her tail, sleep right under her, jump on her back, just to be nearer to her. Even though the two were only together a few months, the bond was fulfilling to witness. Now Brody and Barney carry the torch as guardians of the household, our new shadows.

In closing, Roxanne will surely be missed for days, months and years to come. I'm so excited and happy to have this site, Rainbow Bridge, to keep tabs and to write memories and upload pictures. It truely is a pleasure to share with everyone my Roxanne, a part of me that will live on forever with her passing. My family and I were and are still upset, just a day later, but in the end, our tears are of joy, knowingly excepting that Roxanne is in a pain-free place, where her anguish and suffering are no more. Our selfless act of letting her go hurts deeply, and will for some time, but in the end, our love for her is everlasting. We love our "old lady" our "roxy girl!"

9-3-2012: hey roxy! It's only been a few days but the hurt and anguish of losing you has not subsided. My mom and dad and Danielle and I keep finding ways to bring you up. It's so different waking up and not hearing you bark, or seeing you at the door to greet us with the baby boys. The transition will ease, but the memories will never go away. Barney seems a little out of it with you not being here and Brody misses his sleeping partner on the blanket. Hopefully the two of them will soon to love each other more then just bark and fight with each other. You def were the perfect buffer for them lol! Xoxoxo rox! Happy labor day! P.S. Kathleen says she loves and misses you too!

9-11-2012: good morning rox! Sorry to be writing to you on such a solemn day, considering it is 11 years are the 9/11/2001 attacks on our great city and nation. However, in a way it is fitting , as I sit here listening to the names of the fallen who met fate that dreadful day, I remember my best furry friend. So we picked up the beautiful memorial pleasant plains animal hospital made for you, it has your paw print, a lock of fur and your name on the card, so sweet. Also, your ashes came in, it was so nice telling mom and dad and Danielle "Roxanne is home!" mom made you a cute little shrine in the china closet where you usually slept, so it worked out perfectly. We have called your name a few times, especially when it's feeding time for the boys. We love and miss you xoxo! Write to you again soon :)

10-12-12: hi Rox! How's things in the rainbow bridge, did you find a nice warm spot to relax under, like when you used to "tan" outside lol. Barney and Brody have adapted to liking the treats that you just loved, but they bury them more so then eating them. They miss you as do myself and mom dad and Danielle. The holiday season is around the corner, and I'm sure there will be plenty of talk about you :)

12-10-12: Roxy Girl!! How is my baby girl doing? We miss you here at the house :( The boy dogs had all sorts of surgeries and procedures done this month (Brody got fixed and had a gas problem and had to be hospitalized! and Barney had dental work and two wisdom teeth out!) But they are both doing great! Barney actually has taken your spot by the glass closet and Brody is the wild one lol. Christmas is around the corner and this will be the first time in over 15 years you wont be in our video montage, but don't worry, you will get a shout out, I know it! Love you Rox, until we all meet you again..

8-12-14: My dearest Roxanne. It's been quite sometime since I last posted to you. A lot has happened since then, but don't think for a minute myself or anyone else has forgotten nor will ever forget you. I got married, bought my own house. Dad is retired, dan has graduated from grad school and mom is still productive as ever. I also rescued another dog. Her name is Penelope, and she reminds me of you so much. She's def more wild and crazy, but you guys have similar features... Till we meet again, continue your joyful reign at the rainbow bridge. Say hello to Frisker, Seamus, and 3 of my chickens who were taken from me recently :/

8/29/16:
