I am the quintessential dog person. I have had at least one dog for 56 of my 69 years, and I have loved them all dearly. But Russell was my favorite. He was such a gentle soul and so loving to me, my brother, and our other dogs. He struggled with ear, eye, and skin allergies his whole life, but he never whined or complained and took his allergy meds like a trouper. Unless I saw him scratching or licking himself, I would never have known that he was experiencing any discomfort. An unrepentant couch potato, he loved our two-level house because he could move from couch to loveseat to bed on both levels of the dwelling, and he rotated those soft surfaces daily. He loved treats, belly rubs, and hugs, and he was the most spontaneous and sloppiest kisser an adoring pet parent could want. I miss him so much. |
