Memories of Sailor
TO My Darling Sailor, The 4th of My Goldens and the Only Male. You Came to Live With Me In April 2004,You Were 2 Yrs Old.
After Speaking with Wendy your Human Mom, She Suggested You Come to Live With Me and Aunty Jackpot. So I Flew Down To Wisconsin to See You, When Wendy and Her Husband Paul Picked Me Up At The Airport They Gave Me A Quick Tour of "The Village Of Sullivan" Where they Lived. If you Sneezed you Went Thru It! Back at Wendy's Home I was Sitting in the Kitchen and The Next Thing I Heard Was the Sound Of Thumping Paws and Then I Saw This Absolutely Stunning Blonde Golden Come Running To Me! My God You Almost Landed My Lap. Your Tail Never Stopped Wagging. Wendy Went on to say You had Very Good House manners, and Walked well on a Leash And You Would Fit Right In. Well The Next Morning We Were On Our Way To The Chicago O'Hare Airport as the Only One with Direct Flight. When We Arrived Wendy Dropped Paul and I off at the Entrance and you and Her Went to Park the Car and Would Meet Us Inside. After Waiting Along While We Finally See the Two Of You Running Towards Us Looking Like You Both Saw A GHOST!Wendy Said The Elevator got Stuck and Then LURCHED DOWNWARD Briefly. Were Not Off To A Good Start. After Surviving that Ordeal We Had to Go Thru Security,With It's Added Stress, (which was increased after 9/11) your Crate was Examined Inside And Out No One Could GO ANYWHERE NEAR IT! All Survived.SO Off you Went and So Did I...Flying Home To Massachusetts on The "Silver Bird"(Dog Speak")Plane. We Got Settled in and Began Our Lives Together, You and Aunty Jackpot got along Great.IN 2009 I Lost Jackpot and Decided to Take You To Obedience School,You Did Outstanding, from There You Went On To Get Your AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Title and Also Therapy Dog International (TDI) You and I were Able to Visit My Brother Jimmy at his Day Work Program for Special Needs. All his Friends There Loved to See You. So as Time Moved on We both Grow Old Together. Our Neighbor Paul and His Dog Maddy Always Loved to See You, And Who Wouldn't With Your Beautiful Looks and Sweet Gentle Disposition, Made You So Easy To Fall In Love With.I Felt So Very Blessed Thru Out The Years To Have Had Such Wonderful Dogs. In June At 12 1/2 Yrs Old You Became Very Sick In Such A Very Short Time I Rushed You To The Vet Where You Collapsed, Xrays Confirmed My Worst Fears, Cancer had Reared Its Ugly Head and Invaded your Lungs. The Call from the Bridge Went Out to You, On June 30th 2015 Cheerio;s Sunfire Sailing To The Blue CGC TDI "SAILOR" Joined all His Canine Relatives At The Bridge ( there seems to be so many now) So Grandmama's Little Man You Go Run With The Angels With All Your Squeek Toys Tennis Balls and Cookies, Your Paws Forever In My Heart. Feb 15 2017 They Heard Her Voice and Looked up to See Her Smile and The CHEERIO Dogs Came Running to Meet Wendy Biewer as They All Crossed the Bridge Into Heaven and are on the way to God's Dog Show.
