Shira was adopted at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center on Sunday, September 9, 2002. She had been turned in to a shelter by a family, then rescued and brought to the adoption event at the Center. The first thing she did when we met her that day was to eat John's turkey burger (she continued to hold food high on her priority list throughout her life). She was then blessed at the Blessing of the Animals and came home to live with us for almost 9 years. Shira's favorite things include running in nature, swimming, rolling in the grass and playing ball (although she would get the ball but never willingly give it back). She loved many people and animals (particularly her cats, Scout and Louie). She took her many jobs very seriously. From bringing in the paper to wrangling her cats, she was always eager to assist in any way she could. She was certified as a therapy dog by Actors and Others for Animals and visited with the residents of Burbank Gardens in 2003 until her exuberant personality proved to be better suited to providing more informal love and care to those around her. Shira will be always be in our hearts and we will strive to uphold the values she exemplified, those of love, loyalty and faithfulness. Please also visit Louie Marlowe-Carr, Mars and Scout. |
