Sofie came into our lives when she was only about 8 weeks old or so. She has been with us since and has given more than her share of love and protection to our family. Sofie outlived her brother Vinny and her best friend and sister Sunny. They are both here at the Rainbow Bridge, and I know they met her and welcomed her finally to run free and be free of pain and suffering. Sofie fought and won the battle with cancer, she was battling hip dysplasia, GI issues, dementia, and degenerative myelopathy. She wore shoes for a while and dragged her feet but still hung on and for one entire year she was my companion, my only companion when I become separated from my husband. I miss her presence here with me. Sofie woke up one morning on June 9th, and she could not stand up or walk. She had survived a stroke and almost died a month before. Sofie was a fighter, but she was tired, old and exhausted to keep hanging on. Sofie was put to sleep on June 14th at home in her own bed, after many days of carrying her to relieve herself, as she couldn't even stand on her four legs. She was stressed and depressed that her pupils enlarged, and she constantly shed tears. Sofie was a great, smart and very loving dog and a family member. She welcomed all the dogs that came into the house after her, Vinny and Sunny. She was nurturing and loving and a very protective dog. Sofie, my sweetheart, I miss you so much and still feel that you are still here with me. I loved you all your life, all your short life, and you filled mine with happiness and sweet memories. My son always called her, Queen Sofie, and she was, royalty. Rest in peace precious girl, and hope that you are finally free running without pain and suffering in the beautiful meadows. 6/8/2023 - Sweet girl, I am miss you a lot. Nicholas always thinks about you my precious girl. Thank you for ALWAYS being there for me. I love you baby. |
