Memories of Tawny
Tawny came to live with us in our new home as a 12 week old kitten. We adopted her from our local Humane Society. We had 17 wonderful years with her. When she was 3 years old, we adopted another kitten, Stormy. Tawny was very unhappy with her for about 3 weeks, but gradually grew to accept and love her. When Stormy left us to live a Rainbow Bridge, Tawny missed her and cried for her frequently. Tawny was still searching for her up to the day she left us.

We were quite surprised to realize that our first adopted kitten was part Maine Coon and showed much of the features of that breed. She was twice the size of the petite kitten, Stormy. She weighed 16 pounds for most of her life, until she became ill and started losing weight. She only weighed 8lbs 9 oz. at her death.

Tawny was a beautiful, gentle mannered cat. (except with dogs. She was ready to take on any dog.) She wasn't quite sure how she felt about babies either, so tended to avoid all little ones. As all cats do, she had a favorite, so Gene was her hero and the one she protected. She could sense whenever he wasn't feeling well or whenever something was wrong. She would go to him and cuddle with him. But, she did know that he was not the one to go to when she was hungry. Then, "Momma" was her favorite. Our quiet, demure fur baby will be forever in our hearts.
