It was 10 years ago, August of 2009, when we met for the first time. You were with a foster family in Frederick Maryland. We found out about you through the Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center. We drove from our home in Columbia Pennsylvania to meet you. We ended up bringing you to your forever home that day. The first few weeks were hard on both of us. You were a rescue who was abused and didn't trust us at first. It took some time and patience but you finally realized you had nothing to worry about and settled in to your forever home. You still had your fears but felt safe in our home. Toys were something new to you. Once you got used to them, stuffed toys were your favorite. They didn't stand a chance with you. In a matter of minutes, you had the stuffing out and the squeaky toy too. You soon met your new neighbors, Randy and Cindy, and soon found out if you barked enough, Cindy would come out with a treat for you. You knew where we kept your treats and would sit in the corner below the shelf where your treats were and waited until someone gave you one. You loved to go for walks up on the hill. There you would see rabbits and groundhogs and try to catch them. You always had the neighborhood cats to chase in your yard. You never caught them but had fun trying. As you got older, Father Time started to catch up with you. You had surgery on your back leg and arthritis started to affect you. The worst was yet to come though. Four weeks ago you got sick and eventually your heart started to fail you. We couldn't bear to see you suffer anymore so we took you to Dr. Joe. We both agreed you had suffered enough and decided to ease your pain. Now you can run without pain with your brother Tucker. We miss you Tyler. We will always love you and never forget you. |
