Welcome to Belle's Rainbow Bridge Memorial Residency
Memories of Belle
She was a princess, a girly-girl, a diva who would coyly flirt and then go to the lake's edge to chase frogs, returning to me with wet and muddy feet, sparkling, dancing eyes and a huge smile on her face. Yes, she could smile. "I've never seen a night so long When time goes crawling by The moon just went behind a cloud To hide its face and cry The silence of a falling star Lights up a purple sky And as I wonder where you are I'm so lonesome I could cry."
I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry Hank Williams, Sr. To Belle
In the light evening breeze I listen for the sound Of soft paws on the ramp from our porch to the ground I listen for you. In the barking of other dogs In that cacophony I listen for that special voice that always greeted me I listen for you. As the others return from the night's last outing And they file in through the door I look into the dark and call your name But you don't answer anymore I wait for you. When I wake in the morning I see an empty space. And I touch a cold pillow that should be warm And I wait for your kiss on my face I miss you. I listen for you. I wait for you. I miss you. I will always miss you.
