It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of our sweet, loving, Miniature Australian Shepherd, Tori. Our family adopted Tori as a puppy, and she was part of our lives for 16 wonderful years. With Tori's special spotted gray coat color with patches of white and tan (called "blue merle"), folks would often ask, "What kind of dog is that?" when I took her on walks, often followed by "Is she a puppy"? A full answer would have included that Tori was the sweetest (and cutest) individual I have ever known, or will probably ever know, and she passed only three months shy of her 17th birthday. I am deeply grateful to her for being the wonderful creature she was, right up to the end. She was my solace, my best friend, and she never hid when I would start singing, often making up songs about her. In Tori's veterinarian's office, a simple handmade wooden sign hangs in a prominent location that reassuringly states: "Heaven is where all the dogs you've ever loved come to greet you."
