Maximilian (Merlin)

He arrived named Merlin
but his personality was far larger than his given name
I renamed him "Maximilian"
for he commanded attention of those gathered
when he entered a room ...

After everything I've been through..
the Unbearable Grief of Death both of NUBIA 1997-21010 & RAMSES 1996-2010
then when we least expected
the sudden death of my beloved LEELOO (la Negrita)

Maximilian arrived with the sheer exuberance and delight
that only a 2yr old pup has
to heal a wounded and broken soul

When I saw him I fell in love with him
and Max smiled because He knew
I impressed upon him upon his arrival
that he was chosen not to feel discarded...
He was heading to a new life and new home
that he would be loved greatly
Giving him hugs and kisses as we drove
from the airport home...

Upon his arrival ... he was given the keys of the house..
No restrictions....free to roam at will
He was the master of his domain ..
His only job to protect the realm given to him

He was absolutely my fur child.
Friend, Confidant,Partner in crime,
he went everywhere with me, and was always happy just being by my side,
no matter what i was doing.
climbed in bed .. layed there,
safe at my side he slept...

I'm constantly sick; but having my Max gave me a reason to live.
he made it possible for me to get out of bed in the morning.
He would do his duty .. and returned home.. to eat a bite or two
we would snuggle up in bed,to return to dreams left undone
whenever I was sad or upset he would cheer me up,
with his funny chortles and sounds he made
and funny patty-cakes play we would do in bed ....

I spoilt him rotten....
We celebrated his 3rd Birthday with a day in GOLDEN GATE PARK
and treated him to "ICE CREAM!

He won 2 dog shows prior to arriving to be with me .
He had wonderful ribbons and accolades

Told him:
You're Beautiful,like no other
Perfection, Flawless
You're Beautiful, You are, and You know it!

He was actually learning SPANISH commands

I loved Max like there was no tomorrow...
and then one day there wasn't.

Why did you run out of the house and go on an adventure
with danger ... never to return safe and sound

2 1/2 months was all the time we were given together
I held you in my arms for a little while it can be said
I now try to hold you in my heart forever

How do you describe an empty heart
Or a mind that will not sleep?

How do you absorb the colours of Summer
Through eyes that see only black?

Of wishing he was back?
