One Special Towel
by Amy .........................................
Sarah was the first dog I owned after graduating college, my first rescued dog and my first Siberian Husky. She was rescued from North Carolina. Three years later, we moved to Minnesota. Sarah really loved playing with a neighborhood Malamute. So, I adopted another Siberian Husky, Cherokee. When they first met, it was play-bows, tail wags and woo woos from first sniff as if they were long lost littler mates. Sarah and Cherokee were best friends for seven years. When Cherokee had to be put to sleep in 2006, he was placed on a towel and carried to my truck. The same towel was used to carry him into the vet's office and he was put to sleep on it. I remember thinking that I had forgotten the towel in the vet's office when I was heading home. But, I didn't want to go back and get it.

Monday, May 9, 2011, Sarah was put to sleep. That night, in the vet's office, I looked at the towel they laid on the floor for Sarah. It was the same towel I left there years ago when Cherokee was put to sleep.

I am positive that Sarah and Cherokee are once again play-bowing, woo wooing and waging their tails as they play with one another.
