Julius My Friend
by Andrew Montemayor.........................................
Julius was my best friend, even though I only knew him for slightly under 4 months. He reciprocated an unconditional love that helped me cope with daily life. With my children being grown and moved away, I had hoped that me and Julius would have grown old together and kept each other company. We spent many days just watching TV together, taking walks, playing with his toys and he loved to cuddle up with me at night. I remember the way he would cry at night just for me to reach down and pull him into my bed. He enjoyed sticking his head out the window of my car as we drove to run errands. I loved having him around, he was my best friend through thick and thin. Sometimes he would have accidents on the rug and I would scold him and correct him but at the end of the day, all would be fine between us. I miss him so much, you see, Julius was my puppy, a red-nose, tan colored pit-bull. He was friendly with everybody, and people would melt when Julius would come around. Julius lost a bout with distemper to day and was put to sleep at around 1200 pm this afternoon. The decision to euthanize him was one of the hardest ones to ever make. The last days with him were painful to watch and I regret making him hang on for so long but I found it hard to let him go. I was given 30 minutes to say goodbye so I spent the time remembering all the time spent with him. I thanked him for coming into my life and bringing joy and laughter and showing unwavering love. Julius,....may you rest in peace....If there is a place where animals and their owners are reunited,...I hope you will welcome me ahd show me around when I get there...maybe at the rainbow's bridge. Rest well my friend....you're alive in my heart and in my dreams....Goodbye Julius....................your friend always....Drew
